Forgetting About Cancer

Laura VanBrocklin | JAN 19, 2025

The past week has been spent with my kiddos and Love; mostly feeling well and forgetting the old cancer piece of things. The boys are still siblings, which makes for excitement, heartache, squabbles and pure love all within a five minute span. I have felt surprisingly good this “recovery“ week; spending a lot of time eating and working on nutritious and not so nutritious love-foods.

Since I have been feeling well, we have been able to resume with a hint of normalcy with our homeschool regimen (reluctantly by the 6 year old). It feels good to still offer guidance and love through my role as teacher. Also, don’t let him fool you; he was kidnapped for two nights by his Godparents and was tortured (/LOVED) two days of skiing and overnights at the Beav.

The glimmers have been coming in so many forms; cleaners from the NoCo Angels, care packages from cousins, the meals (and leftovers), the span of emotions of life, and unexpected snows. The texts, the messages, the carefully written notes, and people willing to love on our littles. The human that is willing to walk through this with me; hand-in-hand like high schoolers, head massages, and acting as my hair stylist as we prepare for the next round of chemo this week. The mom-twin who is coming cross country to be present, in the weeds, with us following round 2.
And lastly, the perfectly placed sloth sticker dancing over a belly button and T-Rex.
