Advice from a 6 year old

I am so thankful for the advice from my six year old; why make it complicated? Today I packed up to leave the house for a visit with the specialized surgical oncology team. This is to establish care for potential involvement for more advanced therapies for my liver involvement. In almost packing up all the members of the house (and our household of supplies) for a 5 hour visit, we would need to include all the snacks, water, distractions and patience… I realized the request to stay home was a valid solution. Leaving the house by myself always gives a feeling that I forgot something; pieces of me left at home.

It was a long day; they meet you, then talk about you, and lastly follow up with a plan. It felt odd getting care somewhere other than at DH; knowing no one and no familiar faces. The surgeon was so gracious and kind, surprisingly optimistic about options for surgery, reversal of my ostomy, and targeted therapy for my liver involvement. It is a lot to process; my body has been through a lot on 4 months, and this will add to the tally for sure. Thankful to have support and people showing up for this long haul. The surgery will take two months for recovery at least, which for a mover seems like an eternity. First steps are 4 more rounds of systemic therapy prior to surgery.
Until then, more movement, more new recipes, more time with the boys, and more soaking it all in while feeling the myriad of emotions I am learning more and more about.

Glimmers still come each day; holding a little’s hand while they fall asleep, care packages, planning birthday parties, planning for visitors, loading up on the goods of all forms. Thankful for my daily pranayama, asana and meditation practice. Being in the right place at the right time; connected to great care and care teams (the Universe having my back).
Mantras:
Trust the Universe. Go straight for the liver. Things in motion tend to stay in motion.
