Meet Laura

Laura is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200), Reiki Practitioner, and Nurse Practitioner.

Through life experience and the professional realm of nursing she began to see a loss of human connection.

To become a better human, mother and partner, she has extended her healing practices into her daily habits and day-to-day functioning. Her own journey of yoga assisted her in integrating movement and stillness to create more balance in a chaotic world.

Laura completed her undergraduate nursing degree at the University of New Hampshire, her graduate work at the University of Wyoming, Reiki I & II training with Reiki Colorado Academy, and Yoga 200 hour Teacher Training with My Vinyasa Practice based in Austin, Texas. She has further specialized training in Somatic work through The Embody Lab Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy certificate program.

Laura’s goal is to work with and support others in finding their own balance of body and mind.

Reiki is a traditional work in healing touch. Common concepts within Reiki are an understanding of a universal energy, universal knowing, and importance of touch to the human experience. Reiki is passed from master to student, and can be traced back to the Reiki master, Mikao Usui from Japan. Lineage and tradition of Usui Reiki are passed through coursework, attunements, and lived experiences facilitated by a master practitioner to their students. Each practitioner is encouraged to incorporate their own talents to the time honored traditional aspects of therapeutic touch. Influences on Reiki seem to originate from India, Tibet, and China. The Chakra bodies and ether body are guide posts in sequencing and focus of sessions.

Reiki typically begins with grounding exercises that may include breath work or visual meditation. Then, with consent, the provider will begin the session of therapeutic touch and energy passing. The practitioner may offer direct touch or may allow hands to hover over the area of focus. The session will close with a grounding technique. Depending on the Reiki practitioner’s skill set, crystals, aroma therapy, meditation, or yoga may be integrated into sessions to amplify or enhance healing.
